Tourism on the rise: Cyprus revenues grow despite decline in tourist spending
Tourism revenues in Cyprus in February 2026 showed growth despite a reduction in average traveler spending. According to the Statistical Service, the industry's total revenue reached 85.3 million euros, an increase of 7% compared to February last year.
At the same time, average expenditure per tourist decreased to 581.85 euros compared to 595.71 euros a year earlier, reflecting more restrained consumer behavior. Analysis shows differences by country: tourists from the United Kingdom, the largest market with a 19.3% share, spent an average of 72.72 euros per day. Polish tourists (18.4%) spent 75.02 euros, while guests from Israel (12.6%) demonstrated a significantly higher level of expenditure — 157.15 euros per day.
Overall, for the first two months of 2026, tourism revenues amounted to 159.9 million euros, up 7.4% compared to the same period in 2025. These data confirm the resilience of the tourism sector despite changes in the spending structure.
Experts note that the growth in revenue alongside declining individual spending may be attributed to an increase in the total number of tourists and the gradual recovery of tourist flows.
