The Republic of Cyprus participated for the fifteenth time in the international operation PANGEA, aimed at combating the distribution of counterfeit and illegal pharmaceutical products via the internet. The operation took place from March 10 to 23, 2026, simultaneously in 90 countries under the coordination of Interpol.

On behalf of the Cyprus Police, the Intellectual Property Rights and Illegal Betting Crime Combating Office of the Cybercrime Department participated in the operation. The Drug Law Enforcement Unit was also involved in the inspections. The international operation was conducted with the support of Europol, the World Health Organization, the World Customs Organization, and other relevant bodies.

As a result of the global campaign, law enforcement agencies conducted 158 searches and seized illegal products worth over $15.5 million. In addition, about 5,700 illegal websites and online channels were closed, 269 suspects were detained, and 66 criminal groups were dismantled.

In Cyprus, the operation was carried out with the participation of the Pharmaceutical Services, Customs Department, Postal Services, veterinary and medical departments, as well as the State General Laboratory. The country conducted 12 joint raids and inspections at points of entry into the territory of the republic.

As a result, Cypriot services confiscated more than 3,400 items of products subject to national legislation restrictions. Among the seized items were pharmaceuticals, narcotics, food supplements, and tobacco products.

Authorities emphasized that such operations help combat illegal online trade of dangerous products and protect the health of citizens.
