Woman Detained in Nicosia for Attacking Police Officer at Checkpoint
A 28-year-old woman was arrested in Nicosia following an incident at the Ledra Palace checkpoint.
According to police, the woman attempted to cross to the southern part of Cyprus but was denied entry. Following the refusal, she began acting aggressively, shouting loudly and obstructing the officers' work.
During the attempt to detain her, she resisted and kicked a police officer while trying to evade arrest.
The suspect was detained at the scene. It was established that she arrived in Northern Cyprus on March 11 on a tourist visa.
The court ordered her to remain in custody for up to five days. The investigation is ongoing.
