Section of Güzelyurt–Lefke highway to be temporarily closed for motorcycle races

TRNC police have announced the temporary closure of a section of the Güzelyurt–Lefke bypass road on Sunday, May 18, due to motorcycle competitions.

According to a law enforcement statement, traffic will be completely halted in both directions from 08:00 to 18:00 on the section between the Doğancı and Cengizköy roundabouts.

The event is organized by the Turkish Cypriot Motorcycle Association.

Police reported that during the races, vehicles traveling from the Güzelyurt and Lefke sides will be redirected to the old Güzelyurt–Lefke main road.

Drivers are urged to take the changes in traffic management into account in advance, follow temporary road signs, and exercise caution when using alternative routes.

Law enforcement also noted that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the competitors and all road users.
