Large-scale city cleaning program begins in Nicosia
The Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) has completed a tender for large-scale city cleaning works and signed a contract with Maber Ticaret. As part of the project, the capital has been divided into 15 districts where comprehensive cleaning will be carried out twice a year. The program started on March 23.
The cleaning will cover the city's main arteries, including the Northern Ring Road and Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard, as well as main streets, public parking lots, sports club areas, industrial zones, the cemetery, and the fairground. Additionally, cleaning of horse farms, dairy farms, and vacant lots is planned.
According to the schedule set by the municipality's sanitation department, works currently underway in the Çağlayan area are expected to be completed by the weekend. Cleaning in the Küçük Kaymaklı and Metehan areas will continue until the end of April. During April, cleaning will also be carried out at the Atatürk Stadium and surrounding areas.
Prior to the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day celebrations, special cleaning works will be conducted at the city's schools.
The second phase of the project will begin in July 2026. The municipality plans to expand the program and make such large-scale cleanups regular.
