26 kg of minced meat and meat products seized in Famagusta due to storage violations
During inspections of butcher shops in Famagusta, storage condition violations were identified: 26 kg of minced meat and various meat products that did not meet requirements were found at one establishment. The products were seized.
The inspections were carried out by municipal control officers (Zabıta) together with a food safety engineer. On Saturday, February 28, 8 butcher shops were inspected. Specialists checked for licenses, general sanitary conditions, compliance with temperature regimes, and employees' medical records.
The day before, on February 27, in cooperation with the police, 7 restaurants, bars, and meyhanes were checked in the Mutluyaka, Tuzla areas, and along Salamis Road.
Results of the inspections:
- one establishment was fined an amount equivalent to one minimum wage for lacking a business permit;
- another was fined a similar amount for violating sanitary standards.
The municipality emphasized that inspections will continue to protect public health and ensure food safety. Necessary administrative measures will be applied to enterprises operating in violation of the law.
