Man detained in Famagusta on suspicion of sexual assault on female guest
In Famagusta, police detained a 44-year-old man on suspicion of an attempted sexual assault on a 33-year-old foreign woman who was staying at his home as a guest.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on April 7 around 18:00 in the suspect's apartment. It is reported that the man committed acts of a sexual nature against the woman while she was asleep.
Following the incident, the woman stated she fled the apartment and sought help from neighbors before filing a police report.
The suspect was detained and brought to court. According to police, in his testimony he claimed he was "only trying to help her."
The court ordered the man to be held in custody for one day while the investigation and evidence collection continue.
