Two people injured in road accidents in Northern Cyprus, two drivers detained for drunk driving

According to the Police Press Office, on 4 and 5 February 2026, four road traffic accidents occurred in Northern Cyprus. As a result, two people were injured, and two drivers were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing accidents.

Motorcyclist injured in Gemikonagi

On 4 February, around 19:00, in the Gemikonagi area, a car exiting a parking lot without stopping at an intersection collided with a motorcycle traveling on the main road.

The motorcyclist was taken to the state hospital Cengiz Topel, where a fracture of the left arm was diagnosed. The injured person remains under medical observation.

Driver of overturned car hospitalized

On 5 February, around 00:30, on the Esentepe – Alevkaya road, a passenger car left the road, rolled twice, and came to rest on its roof.

The 23-year-old driver was taken to the Akcicek Hospital in Kyrenia and placed under medical supervision.

Two drivers detained for drunk driving

That same night in Kyrenia, on Ugur Mumcu Street, two more accidents occurred involving drivers under the influence of alcohol:

  • A 28-year-old woman was driving with a blood alcohol level of 142 mg, lost control, and collided with a traffic island and another vehicle.
  • A 24-year-old woman with a blood alcohol level of 147 mg collided with several parked cars in a bar parking lot.

In both cases, there were no injuries, but the drivers were detained.

The police continue to investigate all four incidents.
