110 kilometers of roads to be asphalted in Lefkoşa over five months
The Lefkoşa Municipality (LTB) has signed a contract for a large-scale roadworks program that предусматривает asphalt paving of 110 kilometers of streets across the city. The tender was won by Salih Köroğlu Construction Ltd.
According to the municipality's statement, the works will start on June 1 and will be fully financed from its own funds. The total cost of the project is 74 million Turkish lira — about 1.2 million British pounds.
Under the contract, the contractor must lay 16,000 tons of asphalt over five months. This stage will be the first part of the asphalt paving program planned by the municipality for 2026.
City authorities note that roadworks are already actively underway. In the first five months of 2026, about 15,000 tons of asphalt were laid on 49 streets in the districts of Surlarichi, Yenisehir, Kucuk Kaymakli, Gocmenkoy, Ortakoy, Kumsal, Hamitkoy and Keshkluchiftlik, where infrastructure works had previously been completed.
The municipality emphasizes that the renewal of the road network is aimed at improving transport infrastructure and increasing traffic safety in the capital. The implementation of the new stage is expected to significantly improve road conditions in various districts of Lefkoşa by the end of autumn.
