Police have opened cases against seven people for illegal hunting in the TRNC

According to the police, on September 8, during inspections carried out as part of the second phase of the hunting season, seven cases of illegal hunting were identified in different areas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; legal proceedings have been initiated against seven individuals.

The police press release states that near the Akdeniz‑Korucham reservoir, K.Ö. (E‑54) and Ü.A. (E‑63) were detained for hunting at a prohibited distance from the reservoir. In Esentepe, S.E. (E‑56) was found hunting without a permit. In Kalkanlı, E.T. (E‑68) hunted closer to the Kalkanlı reservoir than allowed by regulations and used a weapon not registered in his name; legal proceedings have been initiated against his son K.T. (E‑40) for improper storage of a registered hunting rifle. Near the villages of Çayırova and Bafra, S.S. (E‑59) was detained for hunting before sunrise, and in Mersinlik, M.K. (E‑69) for hunting in a closed shooting zone.

The police report that the investigation continues and measures will be taken according to the law. For residents and hunters, this means increased control patrols: hunting time and area restrictions must be observed, permits carried, and weapons stored securely, otherwise fines and criminal prosecution may follow.
