Parliament of TRNC Passed 97 Laws in the Year
In its third legislative year, the General Assembly of the TRNC approved 97 laws. Yesterday, deputies held their final session of the legislative year before heading off for summer recess.
Throughout the parliament's sessions, there were a total of 65 meetings: 64 regular sessions and one extraordinary session. Between October 2nd and June 24th, 2024, the Presidium introduced 74 bills and 21 legislative proposals.
By June 20th, 88 laws had been approved by the General Assembly, published in the Official Gazette, and enacted. During the Monday session, 9 laws were approved by the General Assembly and sent for presidential consideration.
On June 25th, deputies gathered for the final time before the break to conduct an audit review.
While the Assembly will go on recess on June 30th, committee work will continue until September 30th: parliamentary committees will operate during the summer months. The proposal regarding the work of parliamentary committees during the parliamentary recess was unanimously adopted yesterday.
It is expected that the General Assembly will also hold an extraordinary session to discuss laws included in the agenda.
The Republic Assembly will commence its fourth legislative year on Tuesday, October 1st.
