On Northern Cyprus, a drunk driver without a license fatally hit a cyclist
Another fatal traffic accident caused by a drunk driver occurred in TRNC. A 25-year-old man without a license fatally hit his peer, a cyclist.
According to the police press service, the accident happened late yesterday evening on Osman Orek Street in Nicosia.
Around 23:45, 25-year-old Hussein Bal, under the influence of alcohol, without a license, and speeding, was driving his car. Approaching the Citröen traffic light, while changing lanes, the driver hit 25-year-old cyclist Gabriel Shima Kasongo, who was traveling in the same direction in the leftmost lane.
As a result of the accident, the cyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital. Despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved. The young man passed away.
The driver of the car, Hussein Bal, has been arrested. The police investigation into the accident is ongoing.
