Police Car Hits and Kills Donkey in North Cyprus
Two separate traffic accidents occurred last night in North Cyprus, one in Famagusta and the other in İskele. One incident resulted in injuries, while the other led to the death of a stray donkey.
According to the police press office, the first accident happened around 5:00 PM on Deniz Piyade Street in Famagusta. A 23-year-old driver failed to yield at an intersection and collided with a motorcycle traveling on the main road. The 66-year-old motorcyclist was injured in the crash and was taken to Famagusta State Hospital. He was treated for a fractured left ankle and remains under medical observation.
The second incident took place around 9:00 PM on the main İskele–Karpaz road. A police vehicle, on its way to respond to another accident in the village of Sipahi, struck a stray wild donkey that suddenly ran onto the road near the Yeşilköy stream. Sadly, the donkey died at the scene. No one in the vehicle was injured.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
