Afik Group Director to Remain in Custody in Cyprus for Another 6 Days

In the Republic of Cyprus, the court has extended the detention period for Simon Mistriël Aikut, director of Afik Group, by at least 6 days.

According to reports from Greek media, the court has also decided to arrest members of Afik Group's board of directors as soon as they cross into South Cyprus.

The 74-year-old businessman, a citizen of Turkey and TRNC, is suspected of allegedly "selling Greek property in TRNC without the knowledge of Greek owners." Following his arrest, the entrepreneur appeared before the court, which initially remanded him in custody for 5 days. Today, this preventive measure was extended for another 6 days.

Afik Group stated that the Cypriot-Greek side unfairly arrested the top manager, attributing it to a "political issue" and "non-recognition" between the two countries. Afik Group also emphasized that all company actions are legal and unrelated to disputes between governments.
