Nicosia: Fan Seriously Injured After APOEL – Anorthosis Match
In Nicosia, a young man was seriously injured following the APOEL – Anorthosis match. The 26-year-old fan is currently hospitalized with multiple fractures.
The incident occurred on Monday near the GSP Stadium. According to police reports, after the match concluded, fans from one team left the field under police escort. However, some of them suddenly ran onto the highway and clashed with supporters of the opposing team.
Due to the incident, traffic on that section of the highway was halted, resulting in significant congestion.
During the altercation, the injured 26-year-old man was transported by ambulance to the general hospital in Nicosia for treatment. He remains in the hospital with a jaw fracture and has not yet given a statement to authorities.
It is important to note that the match ended with a 2-0 victory for the home team.
The exact circumstances surrounding the conflict are currently under investigation by the Nicosia police.
