Betting Shop Employee in Limassol Placed €34,645 in Bets Without Paying a Cent
A 25-year-old betting agency employee in Limassol is at the center of a criminal investigation after placing bets totaling €34,645 without paying for them.
The incident came to light on February 15 when the establishment's owner discovered unpaid betting slips in the office wastebasket. The bets involved a numerical combination game (Keno).
According to police, the young man processed a series of slips and then left his workplace, leaving them on the premises. An arrest warrant was issued following testimony. The suspect was sought for some time before being apprehended on Friday afternoon.
On Saturday, February 21, the 25-year-old man was brought before the Limassol District Court, which authorized his detention for four days for further investigation.
