Relatives of Resistance fighters demand the removal of the monument to reservist paratroopers in Strovolos

The Pan-Cypriot Organization of Relatives of Fallen Members of the Anti-Dictatorial Resistance sharply criticized the monument erected by the Union of Reservist Paratroopers in Strovolos. In its statement, the organization called the initiative “an insult to the people” and “a provocation to democratic sentiment,” claiming that the monument essentially “honors those who turned their weapons against Democracy and Legality.”
According to the organization, the monument was erected without the necessary permits and is therefore considered illegal. The relatives of the fallen called on the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the government, democratic parties, the Strovolos municipality, and the Nicosia EOA to intervene and take steps to dismantle it.
