President of Cyprus Flies to Athens
President Nikos Christodoulidis of the Republic of Cyprus departed for Athens on Wednesday to participate in events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion.
At noon, the Cypriot-Greek leader will lay a wreath at the Athens memorial for those who fell in Cyprus, located in Goudi Military Park, alongside Greece's Chief of the Armed Forces, General Dimitris Houpis.
Following this, the head of state will inaugurate a multimedia exhibition dedicated to Famagusta at the Melina Mercouri Cultural Center in Thiseio, created by journalist Sotiris Danezis.
The final stop in Athens will be a commemorative event organized by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where Nikos Christodoulidis will deliver a speech. The president is expected to return to the island later this evening.
