Police Link Several Explosions in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol
The Cyprus Police have arrested a 19-year-old man who may be connected to the production of homemade explosive devices. Investigations have determined that the bombs that exploded in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol were all made by the same person.
According to Philenews, explosives experts reached this conclusion after testing a homemade explosive device found in Limassol.
The bomb was safely defused, which allowed police to analyze its construction method.
Further investigation revealed that this device shared the same design as a bomb that recently detonated at the home of an individual who was arrested in connection with a financial pyramid scam in Larnaca.
Additionally, two other bombs that exploded in separate incidents in Nicosia appear to have been made using the same method.
Although the targets of the bombs were unrelated, the fact that the same individual made all the devices has led investigators to track down the suspected bomb maker. The police have arrested a 19-year-old in Limassol as a suspect in this case.
Authorities believe that while the arrested man may have been involved, the actual bomb maker is someone else with the expertise and access to restricted materials.
The investigation is now focused on identifying the true maker of the bombs.
