Man convicted of kidnapping attacks judge in Limassol court
An incident occurred on Friday at the Limassol Assize Court: a man found guilty of kidnapping a woman struck the judge in the face immediately after the sentencing.
The attack took place as the defendant was leaving the dock after the court sentenced him to four years in prison. Although he was accompanied by officers from the MMAD special police unit, they were unable to prevent the attack in time.
Police officers present in the courtroom quickly subdued the man.
The judge sustained facial injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
