The defendants accused of arson at a school in Nicosia have been released on bail
The district court granted bail to the minors accused of setting fire to a school in Nicosia. In total, eight teenagers were detained on suspicion of committing the crime.
Recall that the incident in question occurred last Friday. After midnight, the police received a call about a fire at the school. Perpetrators smashed the windows of the educational institution with stones and set fire to classrooms. As a result of the ensuing fire, several schoolrooms were severely damaged. Firefighters who arrived at the scene managed to extinguish the flames.
The police quickly identified the suspects, who turned out to be several underage individuals. A series of arrests followed over the weekend. Initially, the police detained three teenagers, and at the beginning of the week, they apprehended five more.
In total, eight schoolchildren were charged in the Nicosia district court. Yesterday, they were all released on bail under the conditions set by the court.
