Overnight police operation: Seven arrests and nearly 200 traffic fines issued

A large-scale overnight police operation took place in the Republic of Cyprus, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals on various charges, including burglary, knife assault, domestic violence, and attacking a law enforcement officer.

According to police reports, reinforced patrols were deployed nationwide to prevent crime and enhance public safety. During the checks, 418 vehicles were stopped and 608 individuals were searched.

In parallel, officers conducted 33 inspections of various establishments, resulting in three formal reports. Special attention was paid to road safety: 195 fines for traffic violations were issued during the night, including 36 cases of speeding.

Additionally, six cases were opened for traffic-related offenses, and four vehicles were impounded. As part of sobriety checks, 68 breathalyzer tests and one drug test were conducted. One driver was fined for driving under the influence.

The police emphasize that such operations are conducted regularly and are aimed at maintaining public order and reducing crime rates.
