Cyprus launches initiative to attract talent back from abroad
The "Minds in Cyprus" initiative aims to strengthen ties with Cypriots living abroad and help them reintegrate into the country's economic and professional life. This was stated by Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki during the second day of the Cyprus Diaspora Forum in Limassol.
According to Piki, the project was first presented by the country's president in London in May 2025 and is being implemented jointly with Invest Cyprus and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The main goal of the program is to create sustainable links between Cyprus and Cypriot specialists, scientists, and entrepreneurs working abroad.
Since the platform's launch, more than 600 professionals from around the world have joined the initiative, and employers have posted over 250 specialized vacancies. Additionally, diaspora members have sent more than 250 suggestions and recommendations regarding tax incentives, licensing, education, employment, and administrative procedures.
As part of the project, the "Minds in Cyprus" information center also operates, assisting returning citizens with employment issues, the GHS health system, social insurance, and education. For those who returned to Cyprus after January 1, 2025, new tax incentives have already come into effect.
Program presentations will take place in the UK in June and in the USA in the fall. The organizers expect the initiative to help strengthen Cyprus's international image as a modern European hub for investment, technology, and professional development.
