Man Detained in Cyprus Over Attack on Mobile Camera Driver
In Limassol, police have detained a 37-year-old man in connection with an attack on the driver of a mobile traffic violation camera vehicle.
The suspect was apprehended today around 14:00 by officers of a special police unit based on a judicial warrant. He has been placed in custody for investigative procedures.
According to the investigation, at approximately 02:40 AM, a 36-year-old company employee operating the mobile camera vehicle was on the Paphos – Limassol motorway near a parking area by the Kouklia exit.
A car with three people approached the scene. One of them asked to speak with the driver. When the driver slightly opened the window, the unidentified person sprayed a substance into his face, while the other two began striking the car, damaging the vehicle.
Following the attack, the driver left the scene and contacted the police.
The investigation is being continued by members of the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department.
