43 illegal migrants detained in Cyprus in three days

The Ministry of Justice and Public Order of Cyprus has reported the results of large-scale operations to combat illegal migration and violations of migration law. Over the last three days, 43 people were detained during joint checks, and 37 foreigners have already been deported from the country.
The operations were carried out in coordination with the Cyprus Police and the Ministry of Migration and International Protection. In Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos, officers of the Aliens and Immigration Service detained 27 people illegally staying in the territory of the Republic.
According to the police, 17 of the detainees are scheduled to be sent back to their home countries today, while repatriation procedures continue for the others. Authorities also reported that over the weekend, an additional 16 detentions, 21 deportations, and 11 voluntary departures of foreigners took place.
Additionally, two cases of using forged travel documents were identified at Larnaca and Paphos airports. For May 12, three more deportations and 30 voluntary departures are planned, including 16 Syrian citizens.
Also, on May 13, Cyprus will participate in a joint international flight to return illegal migrants to Pakistan and Georgia. As part of this operation, it is planned to deport eight Georgian citizens and two Pakistani citizens.
The Ministry of Justice emphasized that such checks and targeted operations continue daily to strengthen public safety and enhance control over migration processes in the country.
