Multinational Military Exercises Launch in Cyprus
On Monday, April 7, Cyprus will host the multinational "Argonaut" military exercises, which will run until Thursday, April 10.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the exercises will take place across the air, land, and sea, covering the entire territory of the Republic of Cyprus. The primary focus will be on conducting search and rescue operations, including simulating emergency situations involving vessels in the eastern Mediterranean.
The exercises are being coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC). Forces and resources from partner countries, including Greece, will also be involved.
During the exercises, two national plans will be put to the test: Estia and TEFKROS. The first plan outlines the procedures for receiving civilians from neighboring countries in the event of a crisis, while the second focuses on large-scale search and rescue operations within Cyprus’s area of responsibility.
