Night police raids in Cyprus: Four arrested and hundreds of fines issued

Last night, Cyprus police conducted large-scale preventative operations across the country, increasing patrols in urban areas to prevent crime and maintain public order.

As a result of the raids, four individuals were arrested on various charges, including receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit a felony, public intoxication and disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest.

During the operations, police officers checked 582 drivers and 169 passengers. Inspections were also carried out at 54 establishments, resulting in 18 administrative reports being filed.

Particular attention was paid to road traffic control. Over the course of the night, police recorded 270 traffic violations and launched 18 investigations into serious offenses.

The most common violation was once again speeding, with 120 cases recorded. In addition, police impounded 11 vehicles as part of ongoing investigations.

Concurrently, law enforcement officers conducted 225 breathalyzer tests on drivers. Following the tests, 21 reports were filed for driving under the influence.

The police emphasized that similar operations will continue on a daily basis. The increased presence of patrols, random checks, and proactive measures are aimed at improving citizen safety and preventing offenses nationwide.
