Cyprus Abolishes Fees for State Kindergartens for Children Aged 3 to 4 Years and 5 Months

The government of Cyprus has announced the abolition of fees for attending state kindergartens for children aged between three years and four years and five months. The decision was presented by the Minister of Education, who emphasized that the measure is aimed at supporting families and expanding access to early childhood education.
The new initiative means that parents will no longer have to pay for their children of this age group to attend public preschool institutions. Authorities expect this will ease the financial burden on families and ensure equal opportunities for all children, regardless of parental income.
Previously, it was reported that children aged between 4 years and 1 day to 4 years and 5 months, attending private or municipal kindergartens, were eligible for a monthly subsidy of €200 and €130 respectively. Thus, the state is gradually expanding its range of support measures for preschool education in both public and private institutions.
The Ministry of Education stresses that this step is part of a long-term strategy to strengthen the education system, ensure social justice, and improve the quality of life for families with children.
