Retaining wall collapses on Cyprus road due to severe weather
Severe weather conditions on Saturday night in the Paphos region led to the collapse of part of a retaining wall on the Paphos – Polis Chrysochous highway.
As a result, large rocks and soil masses fell onto the roadway. Fortunately, there was no traffic on the road at the time of the incident, so casualties were avoided.
Road services promptly cleared the area, and traffic was fully restored by morning.
Earlier, a similar incident occurred in the mountain village of Kallepia, where heavy rains caused a wall to collapse inside the settlement. In that case, there were also no casualties.
Authorities continue cleanup efforts and are taking measures to prevent similar situations.
