Cyprus Sends Medical Aid to Armenian Refugees
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Civil Defense of the Republic of Cyprus announced that the country has sent humanitarian aid to the people of Armenia.
"Cyprus could not stand aside after the recent dramatic events and the displacement of more than 100,000 people from the Nagorno-Karabakh region to Armenia as a result of the military actions of Azerbaijan," the statement said.
In response to the request from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, after the completion of refugee reception procedures from Armenia, the Republic of Cyprus sent medical and pharmaceutical materials for their treatment, amounting to 15,200 euros, donated by the State Health Services Organization (Okypy).
The shipment was carried out on Tuesday evening in the second half of the day by an air transport flight of Cyprus Airways. The national carrier covered all transportation expenses. The Ministry thanked the participants in the humanitarian aid for their contribution.
"We hope that our collaboration will also extend to other humanitarian actions and initiatives," the statement said.
