Agia Marina Chrysochous Dam in Paphos overflows
The Agia Marina Chrysochous dam in the Paphos district overflowed early Saturday morning.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Agia Marina Chrysochous, Patroklos Evangelou, this is the third dam in the region to overflow this year.
Despite its relatively small capacity of about 298,000 cubic meters, the reservoir plays a vital role in irrigating agricultural land in the Chrysochous area.
The dam is fed by the Xeros River and is part of the region's water project system along with other dams.
Local authorities note that the overflow is due to increased rainfall in recent months and emphasize the importance of careful water resource management.
