The Cyprus Court of Appeal has refused to alter the sentence of a police officer found guilty of harassment and indecent behavior toward a female colleague. The imposed penalty—three months of imprisonment to be served in full—was deemed fair and proportionate by the court.

According to the court ruling, the unlawful actions took place in 2018–2019, initially during professional training and later during active service. The man repeatedly sent personal messages to his colleague via phone and social media. At first, the woman responded, but after he openly expressed his feelings, she clearly indicated that she did not wish to continue communication.

Despite her refusal, the officer continued attempting contact. Messages went unanswered, but physical actions followed, including indecent touches and deliberate elbow nudges.

The victim did not immediately file a complaint, fearing potential repercussions for her service, but after repeated incidents, she decided to report the matter officially.

The convicted officer appealed, claiming that the evidence was misjudged and the punishment excessive. Meanwhile, the Attorney General argued that the sentence was too lenient. The Appeals Court rejected both arguments, emphasizing that the first-instance court's decision was based on a detailed analysis of the facts.

The court specifically noted that the violations were committed by an active-duty police officer against a colleague in a professional context, which is a serious aggravating factor. Accordingly, the sentence is now final.
