Rain, Thunderstorms, and Mountain Snow Expected in Cyprus on December 30
The Meteorology Department of the Republic of Cyprus has announced that low pressure is influencing the region on Monday, December 30.
The morning will be mostly cloudy, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Thunderstorms may bring hail, and snowfall is expected in the higher mountain regions.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach around 14°C inland and along most coastal areas, 15°C in some coastal regions, and approximately 4°C in the mountains, where freezing conditions persist.
By evening, the weather will remain cloudy, with scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms continuing. Snowfall will persist in the higher mountains. Nighttime temperatures will drop to about 4°C inland, 8°C on the coasts, and -1°C in the mountains. Frosty conditions will prevail in mountainous and some semi-mountainous areas.
On Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, with isolated showers or thunderstorms and snowfall in the higher mountains. Conditions are expected to improve after midday.
Temperatures will gradually rise through Thursday, returning to seasonal averages. As of this report, the snow depth on the highest peaks of the Troodos Mountains is 14 cm.
