During the week in Northern Cyprus, there were 69 accidents: three people died, and 18 were injured
During the week in Northern Cyprus, there were 68 accidents in which three people died. Another 18 people sustained various injuries.
According to the weekly report of the police traffic department, 58 vehicles were damaged in the accidents. The total damage from the accidents amounted to 5,110,115 Turkish lira.
23 accidents occurred due to speeding, 16 accidents were caused by reckless driving, in 9 cases, drivers ran through intersections without stopping, and in 8 cases, they failed to maintain a safe distance. In 13 cases, other factors were the cause of the accidents.
27 accidents occurred in Nicosia, 21 in Kyrenia, 12 in Famagusta, 5 in Güzelyurt, and 3 in İskele.
During checks conducted by the police throughout the country over the week, 14,115 vehicle drivers were inspected, 13 drivers were arrested, and 268 vehicles were banned from traffic.
Additionally, 3,468 violators were identified, against whom criminal cases were initiated. The most common violations were speeding, talking on the phone while driving, reckless driving, and driving without a license. 85 people were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
