In Lefkoşa, the Millet Camisi mosque is preparing to welcome worshippers for Ramadan

The recently opened Millet Camisi in Lefkoşa will become one of the main centers of worship during the month of Ramadan. Tarawih prayers and collective Qur’an recitations (muqabala) will be held at the mosque.

The mosque is located in the Metehan area, near the border with South Cyprus, and has already become a new architectural landmark of the capital. Built in the traditions of Turkish-Islamic architecture, it can accommodate 2,250 people.

The head of the TRNC Department of Religious Affairs, Hakan Moral, noted that all mosques on the island are ready for Ramadan, and that Millet Camisi is fully prepared to receive worshippers. According to him, Ramadan is a time of spiritual renewal and unity, and the new mosque will become an important place for this.

He also emphasized the symbolic significance of the mosque’s location near the border, calling it “a sign of Islamic presence” and one of the first landmarks seen by visitors arriving in the north of the island.

Throughout the entire month of Ramadan, collective prayers and religious events will be held at the mosque.
