Four people detained in Famagusta on suspicion of counterfeit money
In the Famagusta district, police conducted an operation in which four people were detained after suspicious banknotes were found in their possession.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 28 around 12:50. Famagusta police officers stopped a car driven by a 45-year-old man. Three other people were also in the car — a 33-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and a 16-year-old teenager.
During the search, two passengers were found with suspected counterfeit banknotes of various currencies. These included:
- 40 banknotes of 100 euros,
- 10 banknotes of 100 US dollars,
- 10 banknotes of 50 US dollars,
- 36 banknotes of 200 Turkish liras,
- 2 banknotes of 50 Turkish liras.
Police also seized five mobile phones as evidence.
All four individuals were detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
