The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), in collaboration with its Department of Physics, recently hosted a seminar featuring Russian physicist Dr. Sergey Chefranov, a distinguished scholar in physical and mathematical sciences.

According to EMU’s press office, Dr. Chefranov delivered a lecture titled “Generalization of Starobinsky’s R² Theory and the Quasi-stationary Universe.” In his presentation, he introduced groundbreaking models that expand upon Starobinsky’s R² theory and explored their implications for quantum gravity and cosmology.

The professor delved into the ways Starobinsky’s theory shapes the formulation of cosmological equations, offering attendees a deeper understanding of its significance in modern physics. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Chefranov was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his contributions.

A native of St. Petersburg, Sergey Georgievich Chefranov is a prominent scientist whose work has left a significant mark in the fields of theoretical physics, hydrodynamics, and cosmology. Holding a Doctorate in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, he is a senior researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics. His research focuses on studying the structures of vortex fields and impurities in turbulent environments.
