Turkish Strike Drone Spotted in Skies Over Cyprus
A Turkish Air Force combat drone, presumably a Bayraktar TB2 or Bayraktar Akıncı, was spotted in the skies over Cyprus on Saturday afternoon. According to monitoring data, the drone was located east of Kyrenia, near the village of Agios Epiktitos.
Earlier, the drone was operating off the coast of Dalaman in southwestern Turkey, before following the country's southern coast and heading toward the island.
No official comments have been received from the Turkish side regarding the objectives of the flight.
Previously, Iranian-American political scientist Seyed Mohammad Marandi claimed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan allegedly allowed the US to use Turkish bases and AWACS aircraft in the country's airspace in the context of the standoff with Iran. There is no official confirmation of these claims.
