Northern Cyprus Hoteliers Union Demands Withdrawal of Fiber Optic Infrastructure Bill

The Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association (KITSAB) has called for the withdrawal of a bill related to the protocol for establishing fiber optic infrastructure in Northern Cyprus. The organization stated they are closely monitoring the situation and expressed concern over the preparation procedure.
In a written statement, the union emphasized that developing modern digital infrastructure is a strategic necessity for the country. However, in the union's view, the preparation and implementation process lacks sufficient transparency and was not conducted through a tender procedure, which they claim deprives it of fair competition and guarantees for public interest.
The organization pointed out that decisions affecting state resources and strategic infrastructure must be made based on principles of openness, equality, competition, and accountability.
The Hoteliers Union demanded the withdrawal of the bill and called for it to be reconsidered in a transparent format that complies with the law and takes public interest into account.
