9,092.70 TL Fine for School Bus Driver on Güzelyurt — Mevlevi Route
On February 17, 2026, on the Güzelyurt — Mevlevi route in Northern Cyprus, police identified and held accountable a school bus driver who was carrying passengers over capacity and standing.
The investigation was prompted by footage posted on social media. Following its circulation, officers from the Güzelyurt Police Department's Traffic Branch conducted an inspection and identified the vehicle and the driver.
As a result of the proceedings, the driver was issued an administrative fine of 9,092.70 Turkish Liras. Additionally, 10 penalty points were added to his driver's license.
The violation was classified as transporting passengers in a manner that poses a threat to human life and road safety. The inspection was initiated after the relevant images were published on social media.
