Storm approaching: strong winds to hit Cyprus until midnight
The Meteorological Service has issued a storm warning affecting both land and coastal areas. According to forecasters, adverse weather conditions will begin today around 15:00 and will last until midnight the following day.
On land, southern and western winds in several areas are expected to increase to storm levels — from 62 to 74 km/h. Even stronger gusts are possible in some locations.
The situation at sea will be even more intense: in various zones, the wind will shift direction from southwest to northwest and reach up to force 8 on the Beaufort scale. This implies high waves and potential danger for shipping.
Authorities urge residents and drivers to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel in unfavorable conditions, and monitor forecast updates. Special attention should be paid to coastal areas where wind gusts may be strongest.
The warning applies to both settlements and the marine area, so fishermen and small boat owners are advised to temporarily refrain from going out to sea.
Meteorologists note that the storm is short-lived, but its intensity requires increased vigilance from the public and emergency services.
