Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizure of 13 kilograms of narcotics at Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus
According to the initial findings from the investigation conducted by the Narcotics and Smuggling Department, two men aged 30 and 54 have been detained on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking. Additionally, the courier who was found with the illicit substances in his luggage has also been arrested.
Recall that a significant quantity of narcotics was seized at Ercan Airport over the past weekend. One of the passengers had brought 13 kilograms of marijuana directly in his suitcase.
According to the police press office, a 29-year-old man arrived in Northern Cyprus early in the morning. Around 09:00, during an inspection by Customs and Tax officials, 13 kilograms of substances suspected to be narcotics were found in the luggage of the traveler arriving on the island.
In total, there were 26 packets of cannabis in the luggage. The man has been detained for further investigation.
