14 Tons of Medications Delivered to Northern Cyprus from Turkey

A shipment of medications donated by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey has arrived in Northern Cyprus, providing much-needed support to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Over 14 tons of pharmaceuticals were transported to Ercan Airport aboard a military aircraft.

This delivery marks the first batch of medications provided under the 2024 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement, signed between the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC.

The shipment, consisting of 83 pallets, includes a wide range of essential medicines, such as treatments for cancer, ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and diabetes. It also contains supplies for dialysis, respiratory conditions, antibiotics for intensive care, ophthalmic solutions, cardiovascular medications, and serums. A second batch of medications is expected to arrive later this evening on another flight.

The Director of the TRNC Ministry of Health, Ergin Tertemiz, assured that efforts are being made to prevent any medication shortages in 2024. He also highlighted that the next tender for medical supplies will be held in February, at which time any additional medications required on the island will be requested from Turkey.
