Meteorology: showers and local thunderstorms expected on Monday and Tuesday (6–12 September)
According to the Meteorological Department, during the forecast week from 6 to 12 September, Northern Cyprus will mainly experience warm and relatively humid air conditions. However, at the beginning of the week — on Monday and Tuesday — a cooler and wetter air mass in the upper layers of the atmosphere will affect the island, bringing local short-term showers and thunderstorms.
The forecast for the coming days is: tomorrow — partly cloudy with local morning fog; Sunday — clear and partly cloudy; Monday during the day — variable cloudiness with local showers and possible thunderstorms; Tuesday — showers and storms also possible, followed by clearing; the rest of the week will be mostly clear. Maximum air temperature is expected to reach around 34–37°C inland and 30–33°C on the coast. Winds will mainly blow from the south and west at moderate strength, occasionally stronger.
For residents, this means: keep an umbrella or raincoat handy on Monday–Tuesday, consider the possibility of strong gusts of wind and slippery roads while traveling, and, if possible, reschedule outdoor activities. It is also recommended to follow updates from the Meteorological Department.
