Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia, as well as several regional and global issues.

According to the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, Erdogan stated that Turkey does not approve of attacks on Iran, but also does not support Tehran’s retaliatory actions against countries in the region. He noted that Ankara continues diplomatic contacts with all parties to maintain peace and stability.

The Turkish leader also emphasized the need to stop the aggressive policies of the Israeli government and noted that steps aimed at changing the status of Jerusalem are unacceptable.

Furthermore, the parties discussed the situation in Syria, where, according to Erdogan, strengthening stability serves the interests of both Turkey and Russia.

The conversation also touched upon the war between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan stated that Turkey’s efforts to achieve peace must continue and urged all parties to avoid steps that could lead to further escalation.
