Fight Breaks Out After Crash at Near East University Drift Track: Police Launch Investigation
A conflict erupted into a fight at the drift track located on the Near East University (Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi) campus around 18:00 on the evening of March 15.
The incident reportedly occurred during a competition following a crash on the track. According to available information, participants İbrahim Yücebaş and Murat Kapacak accused other racers — Dutch brothers Rhone Zwanenburg and Seger Zwanenburg — of causing the collision.
After the race ended, as the brothers were attempting to park their car, a dispute broke out between the participants, which escalated into an assault. According to witnesses, Yücebaş and Kapacak attacked the brothers.
It is reported that Rhone Zwanenburg was kicked and punched across his body, while Seger Zwanenburg was punched in the face and sustained injuries.
Following the incident, the brothers went to the hospital, where they received a medical report on their injuries, and subsequently filed a police complaint.
Police have launched an investigation into İbrahim Yücebaş and Murat Kapacak on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm.
