In Northern Cyprus, the Cyprus Autism Association issued a statement on April 2, in honor of World Autism Awareness Day, calling for concrete measures to ensure the rights and inclusion of people with autism spectrum disorders.

The statement noted that individuals with autism and their families face systemic problems daily — limited access to basic rights, a lack of inclusive education, and difficulties in obtaining qualified assistance. The Association emphasized that support in the form of a so-called "shadow teacher" is still not legally established.

The organization demands the strengthening of early diagnosis, the provision of individualized high-quality education, and the creation of sustainable support mechanisms for families, calling these measures not a privilege but a duty of the state. The statement also announced events for April aimed at increasing social acceptance and helping families.

Among the planned events: a practical workshop on PRT and autism with Dr. Dimitris Dimitriou (Saturday); an online lecture by lawyer and activist Sedef Erken on April 9; a mandala workshop on April 14 led by Zalihe Samancıoğlu, with all proceeds going to the association's fund; a meeting on April 23 with clinical and developmental psychologist Nisan Erkan for a family support group; and children's yoga with educator Sema Arslan on April 26.

Details and current dates of the events are published in Kıbrıs Postası. Parents and specialists are recommended to follow the Association's announcements for participation and support.
