In Tala, fines have begun for dogs off-leash and uncollected waste: 50 euros

On September 19, 2025, the Tala Community Council (Paphos district, Cyprus) began enforcing fines for irresponsible dog ownership following numerous complaints about off-leash walks and uncollected waste.

By the Council's decision, a fine of 50 euros is imposed on those who do not clean up after their animals, as well as on owners who do not carry waste collection bags.

Similar sanctions will apply when dogs are unattended or off-leash, when animals do not have microchips, or when the responsible person lacks the necessary permits.

The Council described the waste situation as "unbearable" and announced the start of issuing legal notices and filing complaints against violators.

For community residents, this means strict compliance with the requirements: keep dogs on a leash, carry waste bags, ensure animals are microchipped, and have the required permits to avoid fines.
