33-year-old woman arrested in Paphos over embezzlement of more than €76,790
A 33-year-old foreign national residing and working in Paphos, Cyprus, was arrested by police on Sunday afternoon to assist in an investigation into embezzlement of funds and money laundering from alleged illegal activities, local media reported.
According to a complaint filed on Friday by a 50-year-old owner of an apartment complex, between 2022 and 2025 the suspect, without her knowledge, rented out at least eight apartments and withheld the payments received. The owner, who lives abroad, estimates her losses at more than €76,790.
Investigations revealed that the payments concerned rental income from apartments belonging to the 50-year-old woman. The owner had appointed the suspect’s company as her representative to collect rents under an agreement providing for remuneration of up to 30%.
The case is being investigated by Paphos CID.
