Explosion Near Café Shakes Nicosia Early in the Morning
In Nicosia, on Thursday early in the morning, an explosion occurred. Presumably, an explosive device was planted on the sidewalk near one of the cafes in the city center.
According to the police press service, the explosive device detonated around 04:20. As a result of the explosion, the sidewalk and the glass panoramic window of a nightclub across the street from the cafe were damaged. Police and other law enforcement agencies are working at the scene.
The area around the cafe and the nightclub is cordoned off by the police and is under protection.
In the evening, pyrotechnics arrived at the scene to collect evidence necessary for further investigation.
